A reflector is needed to throw some light back into the darkened area of the rose and I think a more acute angle and  a tighter crop would work better.  

Personal opinion only.

Thanks Gwalion, thats very helpful advice! I was thinking the same for reflecting light after I took the shot, but then I completely forgot about it.. I like the idea of a more acute angle but that began to show the wall behind the subject and this is as tight as I could get without much post (Didn't have a great deal of time to crop as I wasn't sure if the comp had ended or not). Would you say that black & white would work well for an image like this if I were to re-shoot it with the correct composition and lighting?
